vodhub ("we," "us," or "our") is a personal project based in the United Kingdom. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal data you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you visit our website (vodhub.net) and use our viewing services.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the data required to run vodhub for logged-in users, and (only if you allow analytics cookies) a small set of product-analytics events. When you log in with Twitch, we collect and store:
- From Twitch: Your Twitch username and the email address associated with your Twitch account.
- Platform Preferences: The channels and categories you choose to favorite on vodhub.
- Watch Progress: Timestamps of the VODs you watch, so you can resume them later.
- Feedback form: If you submit the form from a feedback email we send you, we store your star rating and any comment you write, and we link that response to the email we sent (including your vodhub username and the address that email went to). We do not send the comment text to PostHog.
- Contact form: If you use the contact page, we store your first name, optional last name, email address, and message so we can read it and reply. We do not send this to PostHog.
If you accept analytics cookies, PostHog (EU) also receives:
- Pages you visit on vodhub, and whether you were logged in or on Pro at the time.
- When playback starts (live, VOD, or unlisted), when you sign in, and when a Pro-only feature is opened.
- When someone submits the feedback form from that email: the star rating, comment length, language, and which email send it belonged to. Not the comment itself.
- Occasional signals while you keep a page open or a video playing, so we can tell that you are still on the site. These are not a recording of the page.
- How quickly pages load (Core Web Vitals such as LCP and CLS), so we can keep the site fast.
- Browser error messages if the site hits a JavaScript error, so we can fix bugs.
- After you log in: a vodhub user id and your Twitch username. We do not send your email address to PostHog, except on emails we send (sent, opened, clicked) and when you submit the feedback form from one of those emails.
We do not record your screen, mouse movements, or session replays. We do not use this data for advertising.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use this data to run your account on the website. Specifically, we use it for:
- Creating and authenticating your account.
- Curating your homepage with your favorited channels and categories.
- Syncing your video playback progress so you can pick up where you left off.
- Sending live-stream emails you turn on in settings, and occasional account reminders. You can unsubscribe from reminder emails at any time.
- Understanding how the site is used and fixing errors, if you allow analytics cookies. This uses PostHog and is not used for advertising.
- Reading feedback you send through the form, so we can improve vodhub. A Cloudflare check is used to stop automated submissions.
- Reading and replying to messages sent through the contact page. A Cloudflare check is used to stop automated submissions.
3. Cookies
vodhub uses essential cookies to keep you logged in after Twitch authentication and to remember preferences such as language. These are needed for the site to work.
Analytics cookies are optional. In the cookie banner you can accept all cookies, keep essential cookies only, or turn analytics on or off. If you allow analytics, we set PostHog cookies to measure page views, page load speed, whether a page is still open, logins, playback starts, Pro-feature prompts, and site errors. You can change your choice later from the Cookie Policy. Clearing this site's cookies and site data in your browser also stops analytics until you accept again. We do not use advertising cookies.
4. Third-Party Services
vodhub is built using the Twitch API to fetch stream and VOD data, and to handle login authentication. By using vodhub, you are also subject to Twitch's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
For product analytics and error reports we use PostHog (EU cloud). Processing takes place in the European Union. We do not sell or rent your data. PostHog's own privacy policy applies to how they store events on our behalf. We do not send your email address to PostHog except for emails we send (sent, opened, clicked) and feedback submitted from those emails, and we do not enable session replay.
5. Data Deletion and Your Rights (UK/GDPR)
You have full control over your data. Account data (profile, favorites, and watch progress) is kept only while your account is active on vodhub. Analytics events are processed on the basis of your cookie consent. You have the right to:
- Request the deletion of your account, favorites, and watch progress from our database.
- Ask us to delete analytics records linked to your vodhub user id (message us using the contact details below).
- Refuse or withdraw analytics cookies as described in section 3 and the Cookie Policy. Essential login cookies will still be used if you stay signed in.
- Revoke vodhub's access to your Twitch account at any time by going to the "Connections" tab in your Twitch account settings.
